Blog Love

Got a lovely Sunday morning surprise today!  I found a comment on one of my blog posts alerting me that I had been given a blog award.  Awwww!

My friend and fellow blogger Megan from over at Doing What the Cool Kids Do has left me this award:

Blog Award

I'm very touched!

Now as these blog awards go, it's my turn to award it to some of my favourite blogs.  So, here goes:

Life of a Flibbertigibbet - I don't even remember how I stumbled across this blog, but Ms Flibbertigibbet seems to me like the kind of lady I could be great friends with, if we didn't live a gazillion miles apart.

Katagal Kapers - Kerri is a friend and colleague of mine, and she's such an amazing lady who sees the best in situations, even when they drive her to distraction.

Big Fat Deal - a collaborative blog of fat activists, challenging the common attitude that being fat makes you less than other people.  Which they do with humour and attitude and a whole lot of intelligence.

Sleepy Jane - A lady from South Africa who's blog I never  miss, and I enjoy her posts on Twitter too.

Enjoy your cupcake awards ladies, and keep putting out the quality blog posts!

Free Comic Books + Hugh Jackman!!!!!

Oh ladies and gentlemen, it doesn't get any better than this.  Free comic books AND Hugh Jackman!  I was only going to do one blog post tonight, but I saw this over on Brisbane Blog and had to share!

Enjoy...

Hoooooooo BABY!!!

I actually saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine last night.  I won free tickets to the MySpace "Black Curtain" premiere at the Regent Cinema in the city.  I took my friend Kylie (*waves to Kylie*) and I tell you, I found X-Men Origins: Wolverine a million shades of awesome!  Not only was Hugh Jackman so hot I think I ovulated at least half a dozen times, he's uber-cool as Wolverine, it's chock full of action, special effects, stunts, awesome characters, and a fast paced story.  Plus a few laughs peppered in.  Liev Schrieber is super creepy as Sabretooth, and Will.I.Am quite steals the show in a few scenes as John Wraith.  Go and see it and don't listen to the snobs who whine that it sucked, cos it didn't.

Anyhoo, as well as the opportunity to get Free Comic Books this Saturday May 2nd, it's a really good cause in getting folks to read (especially younger males).  I'm quite sure if you do a Google search on Free Comic Book Day + your city, you'll find somewhere that is participating.  For those of you in Brisbane, do go and check out the post at Brisbane Blog for details.

Now go back and watch that promo and trailer again.  Hubba hubba!

Sixth of the Sixth

Another cute meme I found on Adorably Distracted today.  This one is to go to my 6th picture folder, then post the 6th picture in that folder, and explain.

So mine is:

Watermelon Juice

Which gives me a happy, because any excuse to post a picture of a shirtless William McInnes is a really good thing!

For those of you who don't know me very well, I am possibly William's biggest fan.  Well, other than my lovely friend Barb in Florida.  I have been a fan of William since I was about 17 or something, and I saw him in A Country Practice.  His character married Kate the Ranger, and she had lots of babies breath in her hair.  Then it was Snowy, Blue Heelers, SeaChange (which the picture above is from) and beyond.  Will is so used to me turning up to every event he is at in Brisbane that he greets me with familiarity now.

And yes, I am the person who blogs over at William Watch.

Maybe you can do a blog post of the sixth photo from the sixth folder in your pictures.  Or tell me about your favourite actor.

Why I Don't Work In Customer Service Any More

I've just found this brilliant blog.  It is called Not Always Right, and it's where people can submit really stupid or rude things customers have said or done to them.

I've just spent the past couple of hours reading some of the latest entries and hurting myself laughing.  Here are a few of  my favourite gems:

Customer: “What time does the film start?”

Me: “The film starts fifteen minutes after the time on your ticket. There are fifteen minutes of ads and trailers.”

Customer: “No, I said what time does the F-I-L-M start?!”

Me: “The film starts after fifteen minutes of trailers, so fifteen minutes after whatever it says on the ticket. Your ticket says 3:30 pm, so the film would start at 3:45, okay?”

Customer: “Don’t blind me with science!

~~

Me: “Hello, ma’am, is there anything I can help you find?”

Customer: “Yes. I need to find a book on rodents.”

Me: “Rodents?”

Customer: “Yes, I have some little creature running around my garage and I need to know what it is. I think it might be a vulva.”

Me: “Um…”

Customer: “You know, it’s small and looks like a mole or a hamster. A vulva.”

Me: “I think you mean a ‘vole’.”

Customer: “Oh right, that’s it. Do you have any books on voles?”

~~

Me: “Welcome to ****, what can I get for you today?”

Customer: “Yes, I’d like a medium coffee with twenty-seven and a half sugars.”

Me: “I’m sorry, was that…twenty-seven and a half?”

Customer: “Yes.”

Me: “You’re sure you don’t just want the twenty-eight?”

Customer: “Ewww, gross! That’d be too sweet.

This is exactly why I left working in the library branches.  I can't be nice to fucktards like these.

I've Been Awarded!

I just found out today that I've been given an award! How special!

My friend Megan awarded me for this one over on her blog Doing What the Cool Kids Do.

Sweet!

Now what I need to do is -

Here are the rules to follow through when you receive the award:

1. Post a copy on your blog.

2. Mention who gave you the award.

3. Pass the award onto 6 others.

4. Leave a message on their blog letting them know the award has been bestowed upon them.

I'd like to nominate, in no specific order:

Katagal Kapers - my lovely friend and colleague Kerri, who is always so positive and upbeat.

Terri's Ramblings - I have only met Terri in person once for a few days, but she's like a sister that I never had!

Morphine Dreams - Jacqueline is just too cool for words.

Random Thoughts and Rambles - Jules is an open hearted lady, always around to lend an ear to her cysters.

The Bruising Adventures of Girl Clumsy - A thought provoking and often hilarious lady.

Mandie's World - Another fabulous cyster who I only met in real life for a few days, but it was an AWESOME few days.

Congratulations friends!

I Am Blogging...

Just on my other blog, because I need it for work purposes. If you want to read it (and be warned, it will have stuff about libraries in it, but there is a bunch of other stuff), go to:

http://kathx23.blogspot.com

If nothing else, go find the post called "Beached as". I love that video!
