First Words of the Day Post

I cracked my new word-of-the-day calendar today. I have two days to use of course because I wasn't at work yesterday with it being a public holiday and all.

The first word was one I am very familiar with, skylark. My Grandma uses that word a lot. "If you weren't skylarking around you wouldn't get into such trouble." She also uses the word lairising. You don't hear that word any more. "Stop lairising around and do your homework!"

The second one was ad hominem. It means attacking an opponent's character rather than answering his argument. A new term to me, though I know a LOT of people who do that. "He couldn't justify his behaviour, so he attacked me ad hominem."

I'm quite looking forward to expanding my vocabulary with this little datebook!
